HELP TOPIC

Getting started

Set up a comfortable first play session.

How does my child start playing?

Open Play, select the child’s age group, and choose a learning world. Inside that world, choose a game and difficulty. A Back button returns to the previous choice without losing the selected player.

  1. Create or select the child in Kids Profile.
  2. Choose the age group that best matches the child today.
  3. Begin with a listening or picture game and adjust the voice if needed.
Which age group should I choose?

The age groups change the length, language, number size, and amount of visual support. They are guidance rather than a test of ability. Choose the level where your child understands the instructions and can succeed with some thinking.

  1. Use Starter for shorter language and stronger picture support.
  2. Use Growing for longer clues and multi-step thinking.
  3. Use Confident for richer language, larger numbers, and more independent play.
How do I return home or leave a game?

Use the Back arrow inside the game to move back one screen. Use the Play link in the site menu to return directly to the learning-world screen. Fullscreen can be entered or closed with the square-corners button.

HELP TOPIC

Why these games?

Understand what each kind of play introduces and practises.

Why include listening and speaking games?

Listening games practise following spoken clues and connecting sounds with meaning. Speaking games give children a low-pressure opportunity to repeat useful words and short sentences. Browser speech recognition is supportive practice, not a pronunciation grade.

Why include picture, memory, and word games?

Clear pictures help children connect new vocabulary with familiar objects. Memory Match practises recall and attention, while Word Builder introduces letter order and spelling through short, repeatable rounds.

Why include drawing and picture missions?

Circling, connecting, and finding encourage careful observation and listening. They also offer a touch-friendly alternative to multiple-choice questions and allow children to respond without needing to type.

What do the mathematics games practise?

The mathematics area uses pictures and movable objects to introduce counting, operations, patterns, measurement, time, money, fractions, and number relationships. The goal is to make the thinking visible rather than reward speed.

Why teach coding concepts to young children?

Coding games introduce sequencing, directions, patterns, loops, conditions, debugging, and clear instructions. These activities practise planning and logical reasoning without requiring children to write programming syntax.

What do geography and spatial games practise?

Geography games introduce maps, countries, oceans, landmarks, weather, and habitats. Spatial games practise position, direction, route memory, viewpoints, rotation, and simple map construction.

Why include cooking activities?

Cooking games practise following an ordered process, quantities, food vocabulary, preparation, and serving. Safety notes distinguish playful screen actions from real kitchen tasks that require an adult.

What does Shop with Elif teach?

Each store introduces a different everyday money idea: lists and quantities, totals, budgets, saving, needs and wants, comparing alternatives, complete outfits, and best-value bundles. Stars remain achievements and are never spent.

Why include stories and conversations?

Stories support listening, sequencing, imagination, and comprehension. Conversations model friendly everyday exchanges and let children respond in short, manageable turns.

How should an adult support a game?

Let the child try first, repeat the spoken prompt when needed, and ask how they chose an answer. Helpful questions include “What did you notice?”, “Can you show me?”, and “Is there another answer?” Avoid turning stars or difficulty levels into grades.

HELP TOPIC

Children and progress

Manage siblings without mixing their play records.

How do I add or switch children?

Sign in, then open Kids Profile from the main menu. Add each child there, then select the child who is playing. The current player’s nickname appears in the game header so an adult can confirm the correct profile before play begins.

Where are child profiles stored?

Profiles, favorites, voice choices, and personal rewards are saved to the signed-in parent account, not to a single browser, so the same child appears when signing in on another device. Signing in is required to create or keep a profile; a visitor who is not signed in can still play, but nothing is saved.

What do stars and completed games mean?

Stars are a simple celebration of completed activities. They are not grades and should not be used to compare children’s ability. Each selected child keeps a separate total.

How does the leaderboard work?

The site leaderboard is separate from personal progress. When enabled for signed-in families, it uses a child nickname and learning totals rather than the parent’s real name or email address. Parents should choose a nickname that does not identify the child.

HELP TOPIC

Voice, sound, and speaking

Make spoken instructions clear and comfortable.

Why does the voice sound different in Chrome and Safari?

The game uses voices supplied by the browser and operating system. Chrome and Safari may expose different voices, pronunciation, and audio quality on the same device. This is why one browser can sound clearer than another.

How can I slow down the voice?

Open Kids Profile to choose the talking voice and speaking speed. During supported listening games, the Slower control provides an additional quick adjustment. Test the selected voice with the child before a longer session.

What does the Words or CC button do?

Words displays the spoken clue on screen. It is useful when sound is unavailable, when a child benefits from seeing the sentence, or when an adult wants to check what was spoken.

Does speaking practice save recordings?

No. The plugin does not save microphone recordings or transcripts. If speech recognition is available, the browser controls permission and may use a recognition service chosen by the browser vendor.

HELP TOPIC

Troubleshooting and membership

Quick checks for common parent questions.

Part of the game is below the screen. What should I do?

Use the latest plugin and theme together. They use a shared viewport layout that keeps the prompt, play area, and controls visible on common laptop screens. Browser zoom should normally remain at 100 percent. Fullscreen can provide additional room.

A picture or control is unclear. How should I report it?

Tell us the learning world, game name, age group, question shown, browser, and device. A screenshot is helpful. Do not include a child’s full name, face, account password, or payment information.

Where do I manage membership and billing?

Open Parent Area to manage the adult account. When Paid Memberships Pro is enabled, plan selection, billing, and account access are handled on its membership pages. Kids Profile remains a separate child-facing area.
